This national park of Costa Rica encompasses three provinces: San José, Limón and Cartago. Established in 1975, it was named for its most prominent feature, Cerro Chirripó with an altitude of 3,820 metres. Most of the park consists of primary rain and cloud forests that you will enjoy in the almost 17 km hike from San Gerardo de Rivas to the camp base in Crestones. There is another 5 km hike to the peak.
