Travel Panama: 10 days of discovery

Arrival to Panama City. After the migratory process, our guide will wait for you at the exit of the airport to take you to your hotel, so you can check in and prepare for the amazing adventure that awaits you.

Night: Panama City

After breakfast you will take on a panoramic city tour, that will give you a good perpective on the capital city of this Centralamerican country. You will start with an amazing bird-eye’s view of the city as a whole, including the historic Casco Viejo, the modern Panama and the Canal, by climbing to the top of the Ancon Hill. After that, you will visit the Museum of Biodiversity or Biomuseum: you will understand the importance of the Isthmus of Panama and Centralamerica as a link between North and South America, allowing the transit of species. There are seven interactive rooms that explain the role of Panama as “Bridge of Life”. You will continue on to Amador Causeway, the second longest boardwalk in the city: it´s not only a nice walk but a great place to stop for lunch and drinks! Finally, you will visit the Old Town: declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this colonial town has narrow streets, elaborate balconies, nice churches and parks, and lots of cozy places to relax.

Night: Panama City

A visit to Panama is not complete without going to the Panama Canal, so today you will go to the Miraflores Visitor Center: you can learn about this engineering masterpiece in a very interesting video and in the exhibition halls, but especially wathcing how it actually works from the observation decks and terraces.  The other planned activity of the day will take you to the Embera Indigenous Village; you will embark in a boat up the river to reach their community, where they will receive you and share with you a part of their culture and their way of living, today and 600 years ago. It´s a truly cultural and authentic experience that will enrich your journey and yourself.

Night: Panama City

It´s time to enjoy the Caribbean side of Panamá, up north to Colón. The best way to get there is taking one of the most picturesque train rides in the world, the Panama Canal Railway! The line runs close to the Panama Canal passing through rainforests, cruising alongside the Canal’s locks and eventually glides over slender causeways in Gatun Lake. It effectively links Colon on the Atlantic Coast and Panama on the Pacific side. You will enjoy the rest of the day at the sea side, visiting Portobello Beach. By the end of the afternoon you will take you shuttle back, but you will stay now in Gamboa Rainforest.

Night: Gamboa Rainforest Resort

You have a free day today to enjoy the Gamboa Rainforest Resort, but that does not mean you will be iddle all day – unless you decide to! You can explore the forest from a bird´s eye taking the aerial tram; or you can decide to go on the water in a boat tour for some interesting wildlife watching, or just exercise kayaking on the river.

Night: Gamboa Rainforest Resort

Today you will take an awesome wildlife watching tour, as you will walk the famous Pipeline Road trail, on the border of the Soberania National Park!  You will start your tour in the visitor center, observing up to 14 species of hummingbirds that we have recorded in the feeders. You then continue on the trails observing birds of the undergrowth such as manakins, anteaters and trogons. You will reach the 40-meter tower to contemplate birds in the canopy such as the famous blue cotinga and toucans, and visit the viewing platform by the lake to see aquatic birds like wattled jacanas, least grebes, herons and snail kites. You will be able to observe other animals like monkeys, crocodiles, coatis , butterflies and even the capybara!

Night: Gamboa Rainforest Resort

Today, after breakfast, you will go back on the road to drive west from Panama City and onto Anton  Valley! Approximately two hours away, you will find this beautiful and picturesque little town. It is located at 600 meters above sea level, inside an extinct volcano that exploted over 300,000 years ago leaving a fertile valley where eventually people established a little town. You will do a small hike  through the cloud forest to find a refreshing waterfall; you will also have some time to enjoy the little town center with the cozy market place, and finally just relax at the hotel.

Night: Antón Valley

After breakfast you will transfer to the beach, after a short 45 minutes ride. By noon you will be checking-in to your hotel: here you will be able to enjoy the all-inclusive but also the biggest pool you will find in Centralamerica!

Night: Playa Blanca

Another day to enjoy the beach of Playa Blanca, and the amenities of your hotel: beach life, relaxation, sun and fun!

Farewell to Panamá. Transfer out to Tocumen International Airport in Panamá from Playa Banca, say good bye to your new friends, and…. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!! HAVE A GOOD FLIGHT HOME!!!
